Can I Really Make Money Online : The Hancock Way

The first question that struck your mind must be

WHY HANCOCK?

As you all know, Hancock is one of the 2008 movies that chose an anti-hero perspective. A vigilante superhero he is, he took law into his own hands and without following procedures. A disaster at first, but in the end he becomes what everyone expected him to be; a superhero.

Now, business talk...;-P I am sure enough that a lot of you have stumbled upon more than 50 sites that talked about making money online, if not hundreds. I know coz I am one of you guys, and I know how frustrated I am each time. Same old topics were discussed and debated over and over again.

  • You've been told to use Adsense to earn money from advertisement displayed at your site/blog.
  • You've been convinced (few times) that using Adsense is a sure way of earning money online without spending a dime.
  • You've been instructed numerous methods of optimizing your site/blog to ensure the ads displayed are relevant enough to the content.
And I know that many of you, including me, have been trying to apply all that we have read, all that we believe we have mastered, to our site/blog.

Yet, we don't earn as much as those who have been telling us this and that.

Useless fact : I have been trying to make money online for years by creating lots and lots of sites and blogs. I have no intention of telling you guys what to do or what is the right way to do. I'm here just to share my experience and what I thought could work. As a matter of fact, some methods that I shared in this blog might be wrong, old-fashioned, or outdated. It's all about trial and error.


A normal person (I consider a person who has no interest trying to make money online is normal...LOL) one day approached me and say, "Hey mate, I know that you've been making a lot of things online. I know that you made a lot of efforts on a lot of things to ensure the site looks good and all. However, I think you forgot one thing for sure."

I was astounded for a while, a bit irritated (since I thought I was a lot more pro than him). Trying my best to compose myself, I asked him calmly what was the thing that I might have overlooked.

"Simple. You just forgot that you are a reader too."

I'm sorry that I have to repeat the same very line few times. I want you all to feel the same thing I felt at that time where the line kept on echoing in my mind.

So, what does that mean?

Simple (imitating that normal person). You have been looking for tutorials on making money online all over the net. You have been trying to filter lots and lots of things to acquire the gist. After believing that you have mastered a few skills, you begin to think of starting your first article. That is the time where you will forget that you are a reader too. That moment when you start to write. That moment when you start to think what's the best thing to put in your first paragraph. That is the moment.

This is true to the fact that when you were a reader, you never think of yourself as a writer. Because if you were, you will be trying to find every single and small mistake in the article, as what a writer should always do.

Here comes the experiment;

I know it's hard to think as both of a writer and a reader. That's the reason a copywriter earns a lot...LOL.

Now, I'll take it that we are going to write something about 'making money online'...;-P

If you think of yourself as only a writer, your main focus is to write as many advise as possible to the audience on how to make money online. Below is an example of your first paragraph;

Making dollars and cents online is becoming a phenomenal that could not be stopped nowadays as more and more people are trying to earn some money online. Professionals, labourers, as well as high school students; they are all share the same dream which is to become successfull in making money online. However, this dream may not be for everyone and anyone, as the path to be taken is way too risky if no precautions taken to avoid disastrous events.

Tell me my fella friends, would you try to read every single line there? I do not think so. As a reader, I am sure that what you did is you just read the paragraph through.

"New age" web readers scheme when they read content on the net. They don't read line after line. They don't read from left to right as they read physical books. In fact, they read from left upper corner to right down corner of the page.

The web readers are us. WE.

Take a look at this second structure;

"Making money online, a phenomenal it is.

As glamorous as it sounds, earning money online has been taken as a serious business nowadays by anyone. From Megan Fox to simple average joe like me.

Into the pitfall, many have fallen. Many have failed.

The lust to conquer the digital world is growing rapidly in each mind on earth. "
As you can see, the writer used only a few lines that are separated. This may not be a good format when you are writing essay for school, but I am certain that I were the reader, I will read every single line there. Not to mention how the writer tried to capture our attention by throwing in celebrity name to spice up the line. The writer also chose to imitate here and there the way Yoda speaks...;-)

Probably you don't see the picture yet on why this is important rather than having a nice content. Sure, you maybe are a good writer and you can come up with all kinds of bombastic and pompous words.

But as I told you earlier, I won't be reading all the lines. Why? Coz I know that there are millions of sites on the internet and I am under the impression of not to miss any of them. If I want to spend a quality time reading, I'll be reading a book on my bed or on my couch or at my balcony.

There's a subtle reason they call web readers surfers.

They are fast.

For them, it's easier to read "1 to 10" than "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10".

I believe I have proved something else here, right? As I mentioned before, I'm not here to prove that something was wrong. I hope by now you should understand why good story telling and good formatting is more essential than good content, if you do have the interest in making money online successfully.

You may find my article full of grammatical errors and I'm sorry for that. It's Hancock way, by the way; breaking all the rules.

Can I Make Money Online Using A Free Domain?

It's not a secret anymore at present that making money online is becoming the trend around the world. Of course, the US and the UK people had this going on for more than 10 years already, but the desire to earn online is increasing all over the world due to increasing access to Internet.

For instances, as I live in Malaysia, we hardly know about the Internet world back in 1995, left alone making money online. At that time, the only thing that lured me and my friends was the IRC - Internet Relay Chat. Chatting online was the only buzz at that time, anyone who didn't know how to chat online was considered as "nerd"...LOL. Another reason why making money online was not the main reason I went online was the Internet connection speed. The fastest speed during those years was around 56 to 112 kbps, using dial up services. At that ridiculous speed, opening up emails can easily heat up your body temperature!

How is that possible?

There's a reason why they call it Web 2.0. As the demand to use the internet for myriad reasons has increased, giant companies started to provide services for the people to create pages on the net without the hassle of coding and laying out the pages. Blogger.com for instances is one of the providers. You can easily open up an account here at Blogger.com and then you can start posting anything and everything of your desire.

Then came the demand to earn money online using blogs. That's where the blog providers introduced the installment of adverts in blogs, so people can start putting their own desired adverts in their blogs.

In other words, it's not a secret anymore that you can make money online simply by registering a free blog with blogger.com or other blog provider like wordpress.com.

However, this is not entirely true in the sense of differentiating your page from others. It's a hard task to outshine your site from others if your blog's address is something like myblogisfreetoo.blogspot.com. It's easier to be recognized if your blog's address is something like freeblog.com. Why? It's shorter and easier to be remembered.

Then should I get a registered domain?

The answer is YES, if I am serious about making money online. No, if my intention is only to do some research first or if I'm just trying to experiment things.

Introduction to MoneyTuts!

MoneyTuts - "Can I Really Make Money Online" is basically serve as a medium for me to communicate and share with you on my survival in the world of trying to make money online.

If you ask about my experience, then I should say that I don't really have any idea which part of my achievement so far is considered as the benchmark to say that I have succeeded. However, my objective here is to share anything and whatever that I have managed to achieve in making money online.

Anything that is stated here in my blog MoneyTuts is solely my trials and errors, and therefore should be taken more as a guide rather than as an advise. I believe that if I can make money online, it is most probably possible for you to imitate and copy the same path (just don't try the errors too LOL).

Despite sharing my knowledge and experience in making some pocket money online, I would also like to welcome others (YOU) to contribute to MoneyTuts as well.
